Value of TIP … In somebody’s Life

Place – CCD
Day – Feb 17, 2010
I had my cup of coffee and ordered for the bill. The waiter who was serving us got the bill and placed in front of me with a sweet and innocent smile on his face like he was saying Thanks In Advance. I kept 100 bugs in the bill book and started waiting for the waiter to come so that I could get my remaining amount of money (A little of 16 bugs but costs to me a lot as I can buy a lot in this amount of money also may be Milk or Juice). When I was thinking all this I got the chance to open the bill book again as the waiter had kept the remaining amount there in the bill book.
I stood up as I was supposed to leave for my room and the waiter came again to clear the table. Just to confirm myself that I had not left anything behind on the table or futon I looked behind and I came to know -- How important is a TIP? This I came to know when I paid the bill but not the tip money. The waiter, who was serving us, was very keen and interested in his job.  That was not the first time when I had not kept the tip and it’s not like that I never keep the tip in the Bill Book. But this time, I was running short of money and I console my heart that I am a student and I can skip the tip part from the bill.
But the disappointment which I saw on his face (The waiter) was something which still I can see on each and every waiter’s face. All this I did not realize then and their but later, at my room thinking of all the moments of my particular day. The Next Day I went to the same CCD again and spoke to the same waiter about his salary. Waiter replied “Just 3500 Bugs” which is very small amount to save, spend and above all to live in a metro city like Noida. Further he said that we get sometimes 5, 10 and on some special day 50 bugs a day which on an average become 500 to 600 bugs. Again a total of 4000 bugs i.e. CTC + Incentives or Perks.
I am not drafting any emotional scene in words but I want to circulate a message between all of us that we should always keep the tip (not in our minds but on the table too).{जन हित में जारी}

Nice Article Abhay..I have experienced a lot of this and i check the bill everytime to find Service Chargs are levied and if yes, I dont leave the tip. just one correction in article - "bugs" should be replaced by "bucks". Hope you won't mind :)
