Life -- A Cage

My friend is residing in a PG, on the Land of FILM STARS -- Aamchee Mumbai. There we can find from huge well constructed Buildings, acquainted with lots of facilities to Slums. No No No… don’t take me wrong, I am neither commenting on the life style of Film Stars nor discussing havocs of SLUMS. But something else which is more misfortune, a pain but still we call it A LIFE.

My friend told me that she has a pet, a parrot in her room. She told me that when she returns home from office and enters in the room, Parrot starts chirping and fills the room with saccharine whistle.  She loves playing with Mithoo (her parrot’s name). They sing Duets, play Antakshree, converse (obviously in their respective languages because Mithoo does not know Punjabi).I want to be the part of that conversation because I want to see who talks more - My Friend or Mithoo. How Mithoo sleeps is also a lovely style, Mithoo folds its neck in a very exquisite way and then sleep. My friend gives a handkerchief to Mithoo which he uses as a blanket.

I forgot to tell you that Mithoo has its own place to live, a space, a corner or may be a house in a Room. Sounds very different or may be stupid – “A House in A Room” but yes Mithoo has. Somebody or the owner of Mithoo may call it as House (18 x 18 space i.e. nothing but 1/2" to 5/8" spacing) but I call it as a confine. It’s not just because of space but a lot which matters. Mithoo doesn’t have friends to party, doesn’t have family to share emotions and above all cannot see that how the World outside is. Mithoo’s feathers are useless because it’s difficult to unfurl them even and flying is an unachievable reverie.

Before buying a bird in a cage we should ask ourselves “What crime has the Bird done? And try to find an appropriate answer. I am not stopping anyone, buying Birds. But I am requesting to buy the birds and set them free in the open and soothing air. So that many like Mithoo can feel the aroma of air, fill the world with their echoes and modishness.

Many people will make fun of my thoughts and raise different questions but somebody will definitely do the same as I have done – “Buy a Cage and set the Birds Free”. I promise to do it again and again, but at the end of the month "because my Salary comes on the month end".
